An affiliate link is a unique link assigned to a seller by a company. The link contains the affiliate seller's ID or username to enable tracking. When a consumer uses the link to purchase retail products, that sale is attributed to the affiliate seller, who will receive a commission.

You do not “need” affiliate links, but they will provide a passive income if you use them.
