My name is Avin, and I’ve been doing hair for over a decade now. I approach hair artistry and care from a few different perspectives...

1. As a queer and trans person, I know the importance of how our hair can impact our mental health. The ways in which it can be shaped to cause dysphoria, or euphoria; insecurities, or confidence. There is no one way to be feminine or masculine, and what this means to each person (whether trans or cis) differs.

2. I also have a skincare background and love to deep dive into scalp care and how that affects the health of our hair, its ability to grow, and so on. I love being able to translate skincare into scalp care, into haircare, and over onto beard/facial hair care. It is so clear to me that most of us were not taught how to care for these things properly as we grew up, and that takes a huge toll on us now.

3. I am primarily a hair cutter focusing on all lengths and textures. I love curls, kinks, coils, and bringing out as much texture as I can in hair that is either straight or mistaken for straight. I am very picky about what types of color projects I like to take on.

4. I’m neurodivergent and used to be chronically ill - so I understand needs like an extra pillow, sensitivity to certain kinds of sound and touch - whatever it is, and will accommodate folks in whatever ways that are possible for me to do while continuing to be able to do my job properly. I have made sure the salon is stocked with fidget/stim toys, earplugs, and a plethora of reading material to make your experience as comfortable as possible.
