Freedom For Artists
Beauty Junkie team members have a lot of independence, but with freedom comes responsibility. We trust every artist to take ownership of their schedule, space, and success.
-
All artists have unlimited access to the salon.
Treat all shared areas, tools, and supplies with care and respect.
Keep equipment clean, organized, and returned to its proper place.
Report any damage or issues so they can be addressed quickly.
-
Check the salon calendar before requesting days off.
If you have clients booked, contact them to reschedule.
If a guest can’t reschedule or see another artist, you’re expected to come in and service that appointment.
Communication and accountability keep the system fair for everyone.
-
Artists are free to work at other venues or salons.
Maintain your schedule here responsibly and communicate any changes.
Freedom only works when paired with consistency.
-
Artists choose their own working days and hours.
Guests book through our digital scheduling software.
Each artist can customize their online booking experience—or opt out entirely.
Simpler is better. Too many options confuse clients.
Artists are responsible for reviewing online appointments for accuracy.
If something looks off, reach out to the guest to confirm before the appointment
-
Attendance is required only for booked appointments.
Waiting for walk-ins is optional.
Arrive at least 10 minutes before your first guest.
Conduct thorough consultations and manage your pace to stay on time.
If a guest’s goals exceed the time booked, communicate clearly and offer realistic alternatives.
Salon Cleanliness Standards
We take pride in maintaining a clean, safe space for both guests and artists. Every stylist at Beauty Junkie shares the responsibility of upholding strict sanitation practices to prevent the spread of bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances. Cleanliness isn’t optional—it’s part of the craft.
-
Artists must clean their work area and tools before and after each guest.
This includes:Wiping down all work surfaces, chairs, and shampoo bowls after each use.
Wiping up color spills immediately.
Disinfecting all tools and implements.
Replacing towels, gowns, razor blades, and gloves between guests.
Color Bowls & Bottles
Scoop excess hair color into the large trash can near the brooms.
Wash the bowl and brush (or bottle and nozzle) thoroughly before placing them in the dish drainer.
Empty the dish drainer if you notice it’s full.
Laundry
Every team member is responsible for their share of the laundry each day.

If the large can is full, take it to the dumpster and replace the liner.

-
We reserve the right to refuse service to any guest showing signs of illness or contagious disease.
Artists must alert management if they suspect a guest may be sick or contagious.
Staff Services
Respect artists who don’t want to offer complimentary services.
For those who do, doing each other’s hair is a great way to practice, learn, and create social media content together.
If you’re exchanging services, communicate clearly and treat it like a real appointment—professional, respectful, and clean.
So, enjoy the experience.
-
As often as you want, as long as another artist is willing.
-
One complimentary color service every 8 weeks.
Artists may bring their own color or use salon product.

Drug and Alcohol Policy
Beauty Junkie is committed to keeping the salon a safe, functional, and clear-headed space for both artists and guests.
-
Drugs or alcohol may not be used during work hours or while on salon property.
Anyone appearing to be under the influence while working will be asked to leave immediately and may face further action, including termination.
We don’t conduct drug testing—but we do expect everyone to show up sober, present, and capable of providing safe services.
This policy applies whether you’re clocked in, between clients, or hanging out in the salon on your day off.
-
Addiction is a health issue, not a moral failure. If you’re struggling, we’ll help you find support and resources.
What matters is safety—for you, your peers, and your guests.
Conflict Resolve
Beauty Junkie runs on open communication. We believe most conflicts can be solved through calm, direct conversation and mutual respect. Addressing issues early keeps them from growing legs.
-
Start by talking it out directly with the person involved.
Keep it calm, respectful, and focused on the issue—not the person.
-
If direct communication doesn’t resolve things, bring it to the owner.
Both sides will be heard, and the goal will be a fair, workable solution for everyone involved.
-
Any conflict involving harassment or discrimination must be reported to the owner immediately.
Beauty Junkie has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or discrimination in any form.
All reports will be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.
-
Every conflict should be documented in writing.
Include the names of those involved, what happened, and how it was resolved.
The owner will keep all documentation on file.
Paid Time Off
Paid time off exists so artists can rest, reset, and come back charged. At Beauty Junkie, PTO isn’t based on hours—it’s earned through consistency, growth, and commitment to your craft. Artists can earn up to two weeks of paid time off per year.
-
To qualify, artists must:
Have been part of Beauty Junkie for at least 1 year
Charge $90/hr or more
Average $2,000/week in reservations over the previous 12 months
-
To qualify, artists must:
Have been part of Beauty Junkie for at least 3 years
Charge $120/hr or more
Average $3,000/week in reservations over the previous 12 months
-
PTO can be taken in full-week or single-day increments (based on your earned total).
Requests must be submitted in writing at least two weeks in advance.
Once approved, PTO will be paid on the next payroll following your time off.
Unpaid time off can still be taken anytime, but paid time off must be requested and approved.
-
Your PTO pay equals your average weekly commission from the 12 months prior to your time off.
Example:
Cletus McLazerButt requests PTO for December 1–3. His PTO rate is based on his average weekly commission from December 1 of the previous year through November 30 of the current year. The payout is added to payroll following his approved time off.
Tunes in the Salon
Everyone’s got their own taste in music, but inside Beauty Junkie, we keep the vibe cohesive. To make sure the playlist matches the energy of the space (and the clients), stick to the official salon playlist while you’re working.
-
iPad → Spotify → Beauty Junkie
Or just say, “Hey Google, play the Beauty Junkie playlist from Spotify.”
-
If there’s a song you can’t live without—or one that makes your soul shrivel—request to add or remove it.
Let management know and drop your suggestion HERE.
