 1. Freedom For Artists

Beauty Junkie team members have a lot of independence, but with freedom comes responsibility. We love giving freedom to our team, and we trust that each artist can take responsibility for themselves and their career success.

    • All members of the team at Beauty Junkie have unlimited access to the salon.

    • We require that everyone treats the space, the equipment, and the supplies contained within the salon, with the utmost respect and care.

    • It is imperative to check the calendar before taking days off. If there are guests on the schedule during the planned time off, the artist is required to contact them about rescheduling.

    • If the guest can not reschedule or be placed with another artist, the artist must come in to service the guest.

  • At Beauty Junkie, our artists are free to work in other venues, but we expect our artists to maintain their schedules with utmost responsibility.

    • Artists choose the days and times they want to work.

    • We use digital booking software that enables guests to book online. Each team member has the option to customize the experience or opt out entirely. Don't forget that less is more; clients become confused with too many options.

    • Artists are responsible for checking the accuracy of appointments booked online. If ever there is an appointment that appears to be an error, we ask that the artist reach out to the guest to confirm the selected session time.

    • Attendance is required only for client appointments. Waiting for walk-ins is 100% optional. We expect team members to arrive at the salon at least 10 minutes before their first appointment.

    • We must conduct thorough consultations and know our working pace to stay on schedule. If a guest wants to achieve more than there is time to accomplish, you must be capable of communicating an equitable solution for them.

 2. Salon Cleanliness Standards

We take pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our guests and artists at Beauty Junkie. We follow exacting cleanliness and sanitation standards to prevent the spread of bacteria, viruses, and other harmful substances.

    • Artists must clean their work area and tools before and after each guest.

      • Wipe down work surfaces, chairs, and shampoo bowls after each use.

      • Wipe up color spills ASAP.

      • Empty the dish drainer if you notice it is full.

    • Laundry—It is the responsibility of each team member to handle their portion of the laundry tasks daily. Check regularly; If there is laundry to be washed, dried, hung, or folded, get it done.

3. Staff Services

Respect artists who don't want to do hair for free. But for those who don't mind, doing each other's hair is a great opportunity to practice and gain a deeper understanding of the services you're interested in. It's also a good way to help each other create social media content.

So, enjoy the experience!

    • As often as you want and someone else is willing.

  • You may do your hair color at no cost once every 8 weeks.

  • You may do a keratin treatment no more than once per year.

  • Extension services can happen as often as you want; someone else is willing. The cost of the extension hair can be ordered at wholesale price.

4. Drug and Alcohol Policy

Beauty Junkie is committed to providing a safe and productive work environment for all of our artists and guests.

  • The use of drugs or alcohol during work hours is strictly prohibited, and any team member found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while on the job will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

While Beauty Junkie does not conduct drug testing, we expect all artists to report to work sober and fully alert. We also expect our team members to refrain from using drugs or alcohol during work hours. This policy applies to all team members, regardless of whether they are on duty or off duty, while on the premises of Beauty Junkie.

  • We understand that addiction is a serious health issue, and we encourage employees who may be struggling with addiction to seek help through professional resources. If you need help and want to receive it, we are here to support you.

 5. Conflict Resolve

At Beauty Junkie, we prioritize open communication and firmly believe that conflicts can be resolved through respectful and professional dialogue. We encourage all artists to address any conflicts with guests or other team members promptly and efficiently. To facilitate conflict resolution, we have put in place clear procedures.

  • We advise our artists to handle conflicts by addressing the other person involved directly, calmly, and respectfully.

  • If a conflict cannot be resolved through direct communication, the involved parties should escalate the issue to the owner. She will listen to both sides of the conflict and work to find a mutually acceptable resolution.

  • If a conflict involves harassment or discrimination, it should be reported immediately to the owner. Beauty Junkie has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment or discrimination, and any such incidents will be thoroughly investigated.

  • All conflicts should be documented in writing, including the parties involved, the nature of the conflict, and any resolution that was reached. This documentation should be kept on file by the owner.

6. Paid Time Off

Staff may earn up to 2 weeks of PTO per year. Since we do not have full-time or part-time positions, eligibility is determined slightly differently over other establishments.

    • Must be employed by Beauty Junkie for at least one year.

    • Must be charging guests at least $90 per hour.

    • Average weekly reservations from the previous year must equal at least $2,000.00.

    • Must be employed by Beauty Junkie for at least three years.

    • Must be charging guests at least $120 per hour.

    • Average weekly reservations from the previous year must equal at least $3,000.00.

  • Unlike unpaid time off, paid time off requires a request in writing. The request must be submitted to management at least two weeks before the desired departure time.

  • One week of PTO equals the average commission earned over the previous 12 months to the beginning of the time off request.

As an example, let's consider that on October 15th, Cletus McLazerButt requested PTO from December 1-3. The PTO would then be calculated while performing payroll for the week of December 1st, and the average would be taken from December 1st of the previous year through November 31st of the current year.

Tunes in the Salon

Everyone has their particular taste in music, but while working at Beauty Junkie, it is imperative to stick to the playlist.

    • Make mention of the submission to management and introduce your music requests HERE.
